The vinyl package includes memorabilia from the era and new liner notes from Springsteen archivist Erik Flannigan

Bruce Springsteen’s seminal 1984 album Born in the U.S.A. is receiving a special 40th anniversary vinyl re-release on June 14th.

Arriving via Sony Music, the 40th anniversary special edition release will feature newly-colored vinyl and expanded packaging — the LP is colored in a translucent red, and the gatefold sleeve features an exclusive booklet with archival material from the era, newly-penned liner notes from Springsteen archivist Erik Flannigan, and a four-color lithograph. Pre-orders are ongoing.

Released on June 4th, 1984, Born in the U.S.A. spawned seven top-10 singles (including fan favorites “Dancing in the Dark,” “Glory Days,” and “No Surrender”), has since sold 30 million copies worldwide, and serves as one of Bruce Springsteen’s most beloved records.

In addition to celebrating 40 years of Born in the U.S.A., Springsteen and The E Street Band are back on tour this year; after completing a North American leg last month, the group is currently in the midst of a UK and Europe run extending through June and July. He’ll head back to the US and Canada in August for shows in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Toronto, Vancouver, and more. Get tickets to their upcoming shows here.

Springsteen also looked back on his illustrious career this year with a brand new greatest hits collection — titled Best of Bruce Springsteen — which arrived on April 19th.
