Rock legend Sir Rod Stewart has cancelled his remaining upcoming tour dates after undergoing a successful coronary stent procedure.

The 81-year-old singer was recently forced to postpone performances in Cincinnati and Cleveland after undergoing what was initially described as a minor medical procedure. His representatives have now confirmed that Stewart underwent a coronary stent procedure and is recovering well.

Doctors have advised the legendary singer to take four weeks away from performing to allow him to fully recover. The decision means a number of upcoming shows on his One Last Time tour will not go ahead, including planned performances at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and dates in Mexico.

In a message to fans, Stewart expressed his disappointment at having to cancel the shows but said he was grateful for the medical care he received and is looking forward to getting back on stage.

The news follows several health-related interruptions to Stewart's touring schedule this year, but his team says he is recovering well and has already resumed normal daily activities.

For millions of music fans, Stewart remains one of the defining voices of the 1970s and 1980s, responsible for classics including “Maggie May,” “Sailing,” “Tonight's the Night,” “Young Turks” and “Every Beat of My Heart.”
